YOUR EMPLOYEES ARE YOUR GREATEST ASSET!

Wednesday October 3 2018

As part of the celebrations to commemorate 40 years of trading, JBC held their very own staff award ceremony at Ripon Races in recognition of outstanding achievement and long service.

When deciding the winners, every aspect was looked at, including commitment, attitude, resourcefulness, professionalism, team work, knowledge and those that go that extra mile and put themselves out in order to help both colleagues and customers alike. We are proud to announce our winners below:

SERVICE ENGINEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Glyn Hickman solely manages the South West customers, providing excellent customer service. Glyn is self-sufficient and will go the extra mile, helping out with any technical queries and servicing industrial boilers and burners. Our customers love him.

BOILER FITTER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Stuart Brown goes the extra mile for colleagues and customers alike. Adaptable and committed to his role, strong customer feedback has emphasised his strong work ethic and willingness to support the client. During winter earlier this year, Stuart abandoned his van in heavy snow and walked on foot to the clients site to ensure he attended to the boiler fault and safeguard the client’s production at a key time. JBC is a better place for having him in it.

STAFF ADMINISTRATION AND SUPPORT AWARD OF THE YEAR

There is nothing that Vivian Oxtoby doesn’t know! She is always willing to help out even when it really isn’t her responsibility. Through recent changes she has held her region together, often taking on more than what she should have been for a number of years. Without moaning she rose to the challenge and kept work flowing and customers happy. She has delivered works such as quoting, annual quotes and SMA renewals – all tasks that are within the remit of the Regional Manager. Again, great commitment to the role and JBC.

APPRENTICE/TRAINEE AWARD OF THE YEAR

Chris Hodgson has shown commitment to learning the role and further development into a service engineer. His enthusiasm to learn, excellent work ethic and dedication to complete any task given make him a great asset to JBC! He is currently training to become a service engineer following a lengthy stint with the boiler team where he learnt his trade.  He is ambitious and intelligent and he is now completing his Electrical apprenticeship and gas portfolio to be a further asset to the team.

MECHANICAL SERVICES AWARD OF THE YEAR

Dan Thornes is very knowledgeable and helpful to everybody in the department and a great asset to the team. He has lead by example, committed to delivering quality standards of work for the customer and helped steer the Mechanical Services Department back into the direction that was required, retrieving previous customers in the process.  He is also proving to be successful in stepping up from an engineer into his first management role.

EMPLOYERS EMPLOYEE AWARD OF THE YEAR

Harry Patel has a great rapport with the customers and is very knowledgeable in his field. He constantly puts himself out for the company to help as much as possible, including working extra hours and weekends when it isn’t his call out. He has exceptional long service with JBC and has built up strong and trusted relationships with all his service contracts, been extremely proud of his role and the company he works for. His loyalty and commitment is faultless. Not only a professional engineer but also a friend of many.

MANAGER OF THE YEAR AWARD

One of the hardest categories to judge due to the quality and dedication of all our JBC Managers and the one that took the longest to deliberate over.

Our winner, Lee Robinson has shown both tenacity and commitment and has exceeded all expectations. His region has out-performed itself, making it a record year for both sales and turnover. He has always been there to help any of his colleagues, even out of hours and is a top guy to work under.

CUSTOMERS EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR AWARD

Jean Draper is one of JBC’s best assets. Both professional and dedicated, she covers everything from managing a team of engineers to customer service and ensuring her region runs smoothly and efficiently with the customer placed at the core of the business. Not only our customers favourite but a great mentor to their staff who are proud to work under her.

LONG SERVICE RECOGNITION

JBC has been going for 40 years and grown from strength to strength, and that’s all down to the people it employs on a daily basis. Some of those people have been employed by JBC for a lot of years and in recognition of this, JBC has recognised their contribution and awarded them with the JBC Long Service Award to show our appreciation.

Awards for 15+ years of service were awarded to Jean Draper, Rob Womersley and Kev Stephenson.

Awards for 20+ years of service were awarded to Alan Budd and Harry Patel.

Finally, awards for 30+ years of service was awarded to Ady Haigh, our longest serving employee who has worked in our Mechanical Services Department for the last 31 years.

We hope you will join us in congratulating them and wishing them continued success as they continue their career with JBC and it is a privilege to have them on the team!
