What is ISO 45001?

ISO 45001 is designed to improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better working conditions for the entire team. As an international standard, ISO 45001 is used globally, setting a benchmark for occupational health and safety worldwide. Our ISO 45001-recognised standards, along with the variety of other health and safety precautions we take, reflects our commitment to ongoing safety best practices in everything we do.

Globally recognised health and safety standards

The process of achieving ISO 45001 was an in-depth one, including internal and external audits for our head office and Hull Region, along with an on-site audit analysing how our engineers perform on client premises.

Along with establishing a new system for capturing applicable legal updates, rewriting our IMS manual, and creating a monthly report for health and safety performance feedback, we completed a full review of our health and safety policy and a top-level management review covering internal and external issues.

COVID-19 Safety Procedures

All JBC offices have followed the safety guidelines recommended by the government during the Covid-19 pandemic, including hand sanitiser and wipes available at reception and every desk, social distancing stickers and two metre clearance between desks for better social distancing. Along with our Covid-19 safety precautions, we also ensured our head office met other safety guidelines, with a workshop charter ensuring that all the members of our team were signed up to basic safety rules.

The work of our team at the Hull Region was pivotal to our success, with a full fire risk assessment of the premises, a Covid-19 risk assessment, the installation of safety meshing to prevent objects falling from height, and new equipment – including air-fed respiratory equipment and new welding screens.

Our external audits also showed that our engineers deliver a high level of compliance to safety standards when working on-site at client premises – with the on-site audit noting that, as key workers, JBC’s engineers have worked safely throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

As ISO 45001 is the highest health and safety standard worldwide, it reflects our promise to our clients: that we will match all safety standards both on and off-site, with proactive risk prevention, dynamic risk assessments, continual improvement and a high level of safety aligned with other ISO management systems.
