CHP SCHEME INSTALLED FOR BURTON HOSPITAL

Friday May 29 2020

The project involved the installation of 3 x 5000kg /hour, free issue steam boilers (one being waste heat) and association plant. A new gas engine was also supplied and positioned by Clarke Energy. As the appointed mechanical contractor, we were responsible for the final design of the installed plant.

To enable the hospital to continue its day-to-day functioning during the re-build period, it was necessary to install two hire boilers, which maintained the site steam load while the redundant plant was dismantled.  Removal of the old boilers enabled essential civil and building work to be completed prior to the new boilers and gas engine being installed.

Reconnection of steam services and utilisation of recovered heat from the engine, involved a number of critical shutdowns to re-connect these services to the hospital systems. All the shutdowns were completed on schedule.
