Job Description

Reporting to: Mechanical Services Manager
Location: Normanton workshop and customer sites nationally

The Company

JBC specialise in mechanical and industrial engineering which encompasses a vast range of services to the public and private sectors.

Scope and Remit

Responsible for on-site pipe fitting and welding as required for the installation of steam boilers and ancillary plant, or other mechanical services.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Project Manager with the planning of pipe system layouts and installing according to specifications
  • Using the appropriate tools/equipment required for installation
  • Modifying and maintaining pipe systems as per the specifications
  • Carrying out inspection and test of all installed pipe work
  • Evaluating and resolving problems
  • Providing technical support to customers and colleagues
  • Providing customers with regular reports and feedback on their service requests, including the
  • completion of relevant paperwork
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with customers
  • Ensuring compliance with the companies health and safety, quality and environmental procedures
  • Participation in paid overtime and weekend work
  • Travel across the UK and some overnight stays will be required

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full driving licence

Desirable

  • City and Guilds in Plumbing, Pipework Erection, Pipework Fabrication and/or NVQ Level 3 in related trade
  • Welding certification to current British standards; metal arc, tig and preferably mig
  • Limited scope gas – COCNPI1 (LS), ICPN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A
  • Safety passport

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Field based experience in a pipe fitting and welding role
  • Previous experience of working to health and safety requirements

Desirable

  • Ability to read drawings and plan pipework routes
  • A proven mechanical engineering background
  • Experience in a customer facing role

  • Capable of working accurately at speed
  • Manual dexterity
  • Willing and keen to undertake relevant training to develop skills in relation to the post
