Job Description
Reporting to: Mechanical Services Manager
Location: Normanton workshop and customer sites nationally
The Company
JBC specialise in mechanical and industrial engineering which encompasses a vast range of services to the public and private sectors.
Scope and Remit
Responsible for on-site pipe fitting and welding as required for the installation of steam boilers and ancillary plant, or other mechanical services.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the Project Manager with the planning of pipe system layouts and installing according to specifications
- Using the appropriate tools/equipment required for installation
- Modifying and maintaining pipe systems as per the specifications
- Carrying out inspection and test of all installed pipe work
- Evaluating and resolving problems
- Providing technical support to customers and colleagues
- Providing customers with regular reports and feedback on their service requests, including the
- completion of relevant paperwork
- Developing and maintaining relationships with customers
- Ensuring compliance with the companies health and safety, quality and environmental procedures
- Participation in paid overtime and weekend work
- Travel across the UK and some overnight stays will be required
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
Desirable
- City and Guilds in Plumbing, Pipework Erection, Pipework Fabrication and/or NVQ Level 3 in related trade
- Welding certification to current British standards; metal arc, tig and preferably mig
- Limited scope gas – COCNPI1 (LS), ICPN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A
- Safety passport
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Field based experience in a pipe fitting and welding role
- Previous experience of working to health and safety requirements
Desirable
- Ability to read drawings and plan pipework routes
- A proven mechanical engineering background
- Experience in a customer facing role
