Optimising Controllers Wet System
- Sequence Controls
Sequence controls can improve overall fuel efficiency where multiple
boilers and/or burners are employed in a system. Only sequence controllers
that maximise fuel efficiency by optimising the numbers of boilers
used and their firing rates to meet the required heat load, are
eligible for Enhanced Capital Allowances.
Manufacturers should provide a detailed specification
of the product, and an explanation of how it saves energy including
evidence of its ability to control the operation and firing of the
boilers in the system, and details of any independently audited
installations
Sequence controls realise fuel savings by optimising
the number of boilers used and/or burner firing rates to meet the
required heat load. They are available either as standalone units
for retrofitting to existing boilers, or as modular units that can
be integrated into boiler, burner or other control systems.
Both standalone and modular type sequence controls
are eligible for Enhanced Capital Allowances, providing they are
microprocessor based and incorporate an algorithm that measures
and adapts the sequence to match changes in heat demand, whilst
maintaining minimum set temperatures.
Applicants must state clearly whether the sequence
controller is designed for standalone use only or as modular unit
that can be incorporated in other systems, and the specific features
of each model sold.
