Warm Air & Radiant Heaters
- Optimising Controllers Warm Air
Optimising controllers realise fuel savings by adapting the heater
firing and heat distribution pattern to match variations in heat
demand. They are available either as stand alone units for retrofitting
to existing heaters, or as modular units that can be integrated
into heater or other control systems.
Optimising controllers sold with warm air heaters
as part of a package will be eligible for Enhanced Capital Allowances.
The minimum features for optimising controllers are tamper-proof,
independent zone, timing and temperature controls such that each
functional area can be separately controlled in accordance with
occupation patterns. The controller must also include facilities
for users to “temporarily override” pre-set timings
during unusual occupation hours, “automatic night set back”
that turns the heating on to prevent condensation and frost damage.
Manufacturers must provide a detailed product specification of the
controllers.
Applicants must state clearly whether
they are submitting applications for heaters with or without optimising
controllers. Both may be supported, however where applications include
optimising controllers the applicant must provide evidence that
they meet the additional criteria above if they are to be included
in the Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme.
Standalone optimising controllers for
retrofitting to warm air heating systems also qualify for Enhanced
Capital Allowances provided they fulfil the minimum requirements
for controllers listed above.
Where optimising controllers are sold as an integral
part of a larger control system offering facilities such as lighting
control, building security, fire or lift management, or process
control; only the cost of purchasing the controller and incorporating
it into the larger system are eligible for an Enhanced Capital Allowance.
