Condensate Recovery & Return
The indirect use of steam produces condensate, which contains useful
heat. This condensate can be returned to the boiler house and used
to heat the boiler feed water supply, thereby increasing overall
fuel efficiency. In some cases, flash steam within the condensate
return system can also be recovered and used to improve fuel efficiency.
All products that recover and return condensate,
or recover useful heat from condensate are eligible for Enhanced
Capital Allowances, including steam traps that incorporate a pumping
mechanism that facilitates condensate return. Eligible products
may also incorporate contamination detection systems.
Note: Individual steam traps cannot be listed
under this category unless they include a pumping mechanism that
facilitates condensate return.
