Giving technical boiler advice to the site manager at an exhibition
has led to a lengthy relationship between the two companies.
Calders & Grandidge had a split longitudinal seam on their existing
stand-by boiler, which resulted in decommissioning and disposal. JBC
supplied and installed a fully reconditioned 2’800kg/h oil fired
Wee Chieftain steam package boiler in a new boilerhouse.
The design of pipework services and ancillaries to the new boiler
were all designed and installed by JBC who over the years have operated
a progressive contract to bring the site services up to specification.
JBC prepares both boilers for their annual insurance survey and five
year non-destructive test as well as servicing on the oil burner and
maintenance on the solid fuel (waste wood chip twin furnace converted
from coal) boiler.
Other contracts include the installation of a steam heating system
to one of the production shops, maintenance of both boilers and the
installation of blowdown facilities and ancillaries and condensate
return systems.
Various plant upgrades and improvements in efficiency have continued
through the years and include steam trap surveys and recommendations.
Changing the steam traps alone saved the company a fortune in energy
savings.
Alterations to a condensate receiver and replacement pump sets also
contributed toward savings as well as a thermal insulation programme
for the whole plant. |
